Chris Dingli returns this half-term with his popular kids’ show Shakeshorts presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream. First performed to sell-out houses at ZiguZajg Children’s Festival 2016, this popular show is a laugh-out-loud, interactive journey through one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays.
Shortened and adapted to suit young audiences, this play is the perfect introduction to Shakespeare’s plays, allowing Maltese children to enjoy the stories, and identify with themes and characters whilst gaining confidence with the language through song, puppetry and general silliness. It’s a mad, wild, hilariously engaging production of Shakespeare like you’ve never seen him before!
Kids do not sit idly watching, but are asked to interact with the show, parts of which change with each performance depending on the kids’ suggestions.
Written and performed by Chris Dingli (with the help of one William Shakespeare), this 40-minute play is suitable for kids aged 7-13 but honestly speaking, adults love it too! As one mum who attended with her 7 year old wrote, “Amazing! Well done for managing to include the children in the show and for entertaining adults and kids at the same time!” Another mum of kids aged 11 and 13 said, “My daughters loved it and so did I. Hilarious and a great way of presenting Shakespeare. We look forward to your next creation”.
Shakeshorts presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream will run at Blue Box at M Space, Msida on 3 November 2017. Performances start at 10am and 12:30pm. Tickets from www.bluebox.com.mt. The show is co-produced with Fortress of Dinglitude and forms part of the Masquerade Outreach Programme.
